Privacy Policy
Last updated 22 October 2026
The short version: Peony collects no data. There is no account, no Peony server, no analytics SDK and no ads. Everything you make, from your fireworks shows to your countdowns, stays on your device.
Peony ("we", "the app") is a fireworks app: a live sky you light with a tap, a New Year (or any-date) countdown that ends in a finale, and a show builder that sets fireworks to music. This policy explains what the app handles on your device and confirms what never leaves it.
What we collect
Nothing. Peony has no server of its own and includes no third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDK. We never receive your name, email, location, device identifiers, usage data or the contents of anything you create. The App Store privacy label for Peony is Data Not Collected.
What stays on your device
- Countdowns, shows and settings (your target dates, recorded cue lists, chosen shells, scenes, colours, sound and flash preferences) are stored only on your iPhone or iPad, in storage shared between Peony and its own widgets and Live Activity. They are not uploaded or synced to us.
- Simple usage counters (for example whether you have watched your first finale) are kept on your device so onboarding and tips show at the right time. They are never transmitted.
- Alarms and notifications for a countdown you set are scheduled locally by iOS. The optional midnight alarm uses Apple's AlarmKit on iOS 26 and a time-sensitive local notification on earlier versions. Peony never sends marketing notifications.
Permissions, and why we ask
- Music library (optional, Peony Pro): if you choose a song from your library to build a show, Peony reads that one song on your device to find its beats. Songs protected by Apple Music DRM cannot be analysed and are refused with a plain message. Nothing about your library leaves your device.
- Files (optional): a song you import from Files is copied into Peony's own container and is used only to build your show. You can remove it from the show library at any time.
- Photos (add only): when you save a fireworks video, still or Live Photo wallpaper, Peony asks for permission to add to your library. It never requests access to read your existing photos.
- Notifications / alarms: only to ring at the moment of a countdown you created.
Every permission is requested at the moment you use the feature, never at first launch, and Peony works without any of them.
Sharing and exports
Videos, stills and Live Photos you export are rendered on your device. Sharing them uses the iOS share sheet, so where they go is entirely your choice; Peony itself never uploads them. Videos exported on the free tier carry a small "Peony" mark in a corner; Peony Pro exports are clean.
Purchases
Peony Pro is a single one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store, with Family Sharing enabled. We receive only the entitlement needed to unlock Pro on your device; we never see your payment details or Apple Account.
App Store analytics
Apple may show us aggregated, anonymised statistics (such as download counts) through App Store Connect, and crash reports only if you have opted in to share analytics with developers in iPhone Settings. We cannot identify you from any of this.
What we do NOT do
- We do not collect, sell or rent data of any kind.
- We do not show ads or share anything with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not require an account or collect contact information.
Your controls
- Revoke any permission in iPhone Settings › Apps › Peony.
- Turn off alarms and notifications in the countdown's settings or in iPhone Settings › Notifications › Peony.
- Delete everything by deleting the app: all of Peony's data lives on your device and goes with it.
Children
Peony is a general-audience app rated 4+. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it collects no personal information at all.
